Transportation Conversation II
December 17th, 7:00 pm
Our first conversation generated quite a bit of discussion from the 11 folks who participated. The second one will pick up where the last one left off with discussion of the kinds of action that we could perform.
Notes are up on the googlegroup (thanks russ!)
An Open Conversation on Transportation
December 10th, 6:30 pm
Ben Foote and Ted Beuhler invite you to join us for an informal evening of discussion regarding transportation in our region.
This past fall Ted and Ben were students of Rick Gustafson's Traffic and Transportation Class provided by the PSU Department of Urban Planning and the Portland Bureau of Transportation. After most classes we'd find ourselves at a variety of establishments talking about what could be and how we might get there. Well, we knew that talk could only take us so far.
There seems to be alot of heartfelt thoughts regarding transportation in our region right now. Clearly we are not where we should be. Clearly this is a time of great change and great opportunity. Where does that lead? What does that point toward? And how do we get there?
This isn't about "my mode can beat up your mode". It's more of "how can we all be onboard?"
There are a number of ideas around, are those vapid or consequential? Can we find our way to difinitive change? How do we bring a 20th century mentality about the public's right of way, (our right of way) into the 21st century?
Please bring your ideas. We'll spend a few minutes framing a conversation and then opening up the floor to find the good ideas amongst us, and then in the end hopefully find some of us who are interested in joining ideas with action in the new decade in order to work on the problems of transportation in our region.
